ryanhemphill / contrast-colorblind-colorpicker

This is the prototype for ChromaFocus LITE, a next-generation color-picker for contrast and colorblindness, which is now moved to a new repo (sorry for inconveniences). It will be periodically updated to reflect ChromaFocus LITE's codebase. ChromaFocus PRO (due in mid 2018) will not be posted at this location.

Feature request: ability to enter an hex color value #11

Many color pickers (like Colour Contrast Analyser by Paciello Group) provide a color value by default in hex. It's also how it's found in CSS rules most of times. I'd like to be able to enter an hex value to set the RGB sliders thumbs. Your tool is awesome and has a clear added value by explicit showing the excluded ranges for a given background. I expect to use it intensely when fixing, or advising for a color set that meets wcag2. Right now it's a bit cumbersome to first convert the hex value in R, G, B, then type each value in the input boxes to get the result.

Your comments are appreciated, and you're absolutely right...which is why I'm going to add a palette feature to the tool which will allow you to convert the colors of an entire site into the tool. And yes, you'll be able to paste in a hex/rgb/rgba/hsl/hsla/color-name value and have it automatically convert. In short, if it works in CSS, it'll work in the UI.

If you would like - I can send you some updates if you're interested in knowing the development.

I have a little surprise coming that no one has seen before, stay tuned...
