Comment / Observation The "petri" dish of school and the parents of those kids in the workplace (petri2) has always been a source of spreading "things" among society. Over the years, these kids and their parents, and their contact with others without kids in the workplace (petri2), have developed antibodies to these "things". The older population, typically, in general, is isolated from the "petri" and "petri2" dishes and also retired from the workplace, and over time softens the buildup of antibodies and development of the immune system, plus their compromised underlying conditions from the just the rigors of "life", has made this sector of our society more vulnerable to death from virus. Maybe the remedy for Covid-19 is already present in these younger kids and generations, from their contact with similar viruses and "things".

Thanks for the possible mental model here.

I’m on mobile so will circle back properly here tomorrow but one theory is that children are more likely to have been exposed to common cold coronaviruses which may have some cross-reactivity in antibodies. That lines up with your petri dish theory. So I certainly think it’s likely.

The other alternative proposed in Vo’ ( https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.04.17.20053157v1.full.pdf) is around different immunoregulatory factors in children (they are vague on this one)
