While 3rd person language sounds more fancy or scientific, it's falling out of favour with modern writers, as I understand it. There are two big problems with it:
It almost always makes your sentences more convoluted
It can seem impersonal (This probably contributes to #3)
I hope you can see those examples I've chosen seem immediately more clear and genuine?
