If we do go for the "examples as item quizzes" route, we should be able to view their lecture segments.

All we need to do is create the .play-btn.. and store the data. I imagine we could do a separate spreadsheet where we copy over the full list, narrow it down to the quizzes, add the ##s, and then link the quizzes to the ids. Again, we need stable ids.

Alternately, we could copy the video data into the quiz forms. The downside here is that we don't have the Google doc as the canonical source, but we could create it retrospectively from the database..
