iPhoto Library will not export to External HD #61

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Phoshare successfully recognizes iPhoto Library (this library is stored on
both the internal and another external HD)
2. All folders are created from my Events/Albums on the external HD in a
subfolder titled "Pictures"
3. The actual files are not exported to the folders and subfolders created on
the external HD

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I would expect it to copy all of the iPhoto files and metadata to the
"Pictures" folder on my external HD, but instead it only converts the
containing folders. I'll include the beginning and end portions of my Phoshare
report log:

Done!

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Phoshare 1.5.2 Lion OS X 10.7.5

Please provide any additional information below.

If you need the full report or other information then please let me know. I've
also tried doing this with different versions of Phoshare and would get the
same results.

After doing a little more research, I solved the problem! Turns out there was
a permissions error with my iPhoto library, so I repaired the permissions using
a program called iPhoto Library Manager. Now I have all of my original and
modified photos on my external HD, including all of the metadata I selected.

It took me at least a few days to figure this out. Why Apple chooses to
lock-in all of your data through their software is a mystery to me.
