make script dash compatible again #14

@marcopiraccini @tokelove I just prepared a patch that hopefully fixes this issue (I tested it in MyOS 🙃)

Please look it over, we should definitely set up a system that doesn't allow breaking changes to go in. If you guys don't get to it, I will merge shortly.
