How can we reproduce the results of perturb.gif? #1

The result in perturb.gif is very nice. And I am trying to set up the environment of deformable linear object manipulation like this. But I cannot reproduce the results provided by the file. The vtk file of the DLO folder is easy to crash. Can you give me an example of how to set up this environment? Thanks.
