Hey there! I discovered the mlmym.org site and really like it!
I was wondering if it would be possible to add a hide button like on reddit?
The default way on Lemmy is already a bit annoying: you have to disable "Show Read Posts" in your profile, but then using the UI, just expending an image post doesn't count as "reading it" - so if I want to hide a post I have to open it in a new tab so it becomes read...
(which would cause an API call to "Get Comments" and other stuff that causes unnecessary load)
I pretty much used reddit as a message queue, and just either hide or up/downvoted everything I already saw, which would make the post not visible anymore.
So I was curious if you could add something like that:
Expanding a post without actually opening the post should mark the post as read
Probably there should be a profile setting "show/hide - read/up/downvoted posts"
I don't know how much of that is possible on the Lemmy API, I was thinking otherwise a solution would be something like keeping a "read" state on the client side, and just hide them there
