'friendly_name' thing property

Friendly name property is created as a replacement for so-called 'description' property and contains a human-friendly name for the specified thing. For example: 'Entrance door', 'Kitchen lighting', 'Living room soundbar' and so on.

OK, started researching: do they have a description field or something similar for their devices?

• Wink Hub: some analogue of friendly_name is present (called simply name), location field is present, a lot of other useful information is present, but there is no description field; link;
• SmartThings: there is no evidence of description field, but name field is present; link;
• Nest: name is present, with additional long_name field (usually contains information about placement), but there is no description field; link.

So, from this time, description field is declared as deprecated and will be removed in the next release
