Yep same question. It looks like it streams the content of the screen, I tried adding a virtual display in my desktop's resolution (3440x1440) and streaming this but couldn't find a way working around the immutable system of the Deck.
My usecase is actually that when I want to use Desktop mode, I want to do it with my screen and mouse and keyboard, but I don't want to have to plug in the deck to a dock when all my peripherals are already connected to my desktop computer.
I am doing something convolute, just for fun. I am playing game on my beefy pc, then use moondeck to stream the videos to my deck, then i am using the sunlight host on my deck to stream to my vr headset via moonlight. So I can use my deck as the controller
However, i find the sunshine host on steamdeck is limited to 720p if i am not mistaken, is there a way to make it stream 1440p instead?
I have the moonlight app on steamdeck to scale to 1440p and in the sunshine stream it only shows a quarter of screen for example.
