wxGTK --enable-stl #144

It has been reported that on some platforms (Suse 12.1) Toped crashes on 
startup. 
The problem has been traced down to the wx compile option --enable-stl which 
appears to be used in the wx library packets delivered with that distribution.
It has been recreated on Fedora 16 with manually compiled wx using that 
configuration option. It is quite possible that the same problem exists on 
Windows when wx are compiled using the option in question.

Further investigation required. The issue is in the latest release.
