It it possible with GASI to add a rich text signature to a user?

It looks like HTML signatures are not supported?
Paragraphs are working, but images are not. It seems to be stuck at equals 
signs, quotation marks, ...

example:
(where {1} = username and {2} = fullname)

gas update_signature user_name={1} signature="<p>{2}<br /><img 
src=\"http://path/to/img.jpg\" /></p>"

This will result in:

Full Name
<img
