• build-vs-but: argocd is a ready to use component
• purpose built UI, can easily see deployment state of app
• built in gitops functionality (e.g. multiple deployment waves via annotation)
• support for templating via kustomize: clean separation of layers and deployment vs. app code
• has k8s operator
