I don't understand why you need a pager. here, the multi-taskbar does the job
...
can you explain why you want it (fonctionnality, aestetic, ...)⋅

With a lot of windows open (I can easily lost control of how many windows I
open...)
the multi-taskbar becomes a mess. I find more practical using a single taskbar
(that
is: allocating all the available space on the taskbar to the windows opened in a
single desktop) and reserving a small space for a pager with windows preview and
drag-and-drop capabilities - like NetWMPager. Since I noticed that this pager,
with
an accurate setup, blends really well with tint2, I think it will be even
better if
this kind of pager becomes an integrated widget in it. I'll upload a screenshot
of my
setup tonight.

I second this. I use single-desktop, but I'd like to have a pager in tint2

I wrote a systray pager. It integrates nicely with tint2, see

Just my 0.02$. I recently moved from using GNOME2 style workspace switchers tot
he multi-taskbar style pager and I LOVE IT! It's awesome and something I guess
I'd always wanted.
Anyways, not to undermine the requests of daniel and lithium above, if you do
decide to separate the taskbar and the pager, then please don't remove the
existing multi-taskbar functionality like the GNOME devs do.

I think this is a great idea. Especially, if you have the pager show the name
of the workspaces, and maybe some visual indication (like a different color),
for active workspaces and also non-active workspaces that have windows on them.
I'm thinking something along the lines of dwm or awesome-wm's workspace bar.

Using a standalone/systray Pager (I still have to try neap, looks nice!!) would
be a much better option imo. I'm already using volumeicon for my sound level.
Tint2 doesn't need a volume icon nor a pager.
I admit multi_desktop on small screens quickly becomes a mess.

https://launchpad.net/indicator-workspaces is an alternative to neap (neap has
some annoying bugs)
