maybe you can work with synocommunity (https://github.com/SynoCommunity/spksrc). It won't make sabre-katana an official package, but it would then be easy to install.

Very curious how this would look like. Could serve a bit as a "template" for other package managers as well.

@evert: I reckon spksrc is a wrapper around your project. You define “hook” (as functions), like preinstall, install, postinstall etc., and then it runs everything for you. You can declare dependencies & co. Check existing packages here: https://github.com/SynoCommunity/spksrc/tree/master/spk.
