What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. use xml
<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<element_name value_name="�" />
2. read in the xml
BYTE value_name = p_element_options->GetAttribute<BYTE>("value_name");
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expecting value_name == 0
receive exception thrown
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Please provide any additional information below.

This fails when *temp is 0.
However, temp is 0 by design as this is the correct value when parsed.
