Sounds like you have always on top set, double click on the title bar or press control - space with Ditto active.

I did indeed. Turns out it was an FFU (Fumble-Fingered User) problem. Thanks for the reply!
+1 I had this issue also. Must have unwittily done the same. Have used Ditto for years and never noticed the always on top option. Thank you for helping!
... mee too ! Since few weeks I had the same problem. Ditto window stays in foreground after inserting a clipboard entry in other application. @sabrogden : Thank you very much for your tipp :-)))) - now it works like before.
(On Windows 11 Pro) When using Ditto Clipboard Manager I keep its icon visible in the icon tray at the lower right. When I want to fetch something from the clipboard, I click on the icon and a little window opens up showing sticky clips and the most recently captured clips. In the past when I clicked on a clip, the little window would go away; after the most recent Ditto update (I guess) however, it doesn't go away: it just stays open and gets in my way. This behavior is annoying. Is there a setting somewhere to make the window stay open (new behavior) or automatically close (old behavior)? If not, there should be one.
