This brings the project to a functional start. What it can do right now:
Render its layout in the browser, and navigate as expected
Create users
either via email/password or google/github auth
duplicate usernames are disallowed
Update user details
update email disallowed at this time since emails for social signups are controlled by the identity provider
verify user email
Still left to do:
create job descriptions and postings
now that email verification is in place, this is the next piece of API work to do. Only email verified users should be able to create content
wire up live api for getting job postings
validate some other user stuff on creation
username length should be a minimum of 3

create user first name, last name, and username for social signups
use the auth callback page to do this by presenting a form
create deployment
find cheapest reliable hosting for a Postgres instance and the api. scale needs will be basically non-existent
frontend through GitHub pages probably. why not.
finalize a color palette. using the tailwind builtin colors is fine, but having some named values will be best for consistency and ensuring necessary css classes are loaded
