Guys, seems like the problem with btsync was relevant to the number of files, rather than to the folder/file size. My suggestion is thus to exchange ZIPs, rather than each file singularly.

Additionally, we don't need the huge collection anymore, as we all have the pictures on the drives by now. It makes sense though to share the featurized pictures (aka: what is produced by, for example, calling skeletonize on all pictures, and saved as numpy array).
For the function that I was using to featureize the images, I ended up "compressing" the dataset to a 500MB zip file, which I will put in the sync folder, once everyone has done what's written below. I have already deleted all the pictures from the sync folder as well, but it will still need to index all the files if you try to do the same. So here is what you should do:

  1. Close btsync
  2. Navigate to the folder, delete the train_photos folder (delete and empty recycle bin, that is)
  3. Open btsync again and navigate to the settings/preferences of the folder (three buttons on the right)
  4. There is an option "Archive deleted files...". Uncheck that.

You should be good to go!

I assigned you all to the issue, one you have done the steps above, please unassign yourself.
