Hacker's keyboard compatibility issues

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install a more fully-featured keyboard (like Hacker's Keyboard)
2. Run RemoteDroid
3. See keys that do not work

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to be able to perform tasks requiring key modifiers, function keys and 
combinations thereof. I instead see failure.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below.
The issue will be resolved when the server software (or dependent software) is 
fixed to accept the presently-incompatible packet requests sent from the phone. 
I.E. I press Control, Alt and/or shift to perform keyboard tasks. The software 
needs to be updated to accept these combinations of requests to improve 
experience using alternate keyboards with more robust keysets and features.

I ran into the same problem using it on a Beagle Bone Black.  

I was editing a file with vim and could not use Esc.
