Workspaces / window layouts in Spacemacs #4

How to set up dedicated windows & layouts for different workflows.

I'd really like to know how to set up something like:

I've always muddled through by splitting windows myself, and eventually cleaning up by returning to a single window with SPC w m after other buffers like Magit always open a new split. I'd like to know if there's a better way with workspaces and layouts. The documentation only describes it, and doesn't show any examples in practice.

This is a great idea. I'll look more into it. In trying doom-emacs for a few days one of the things I loved in it were tabbed persistent workspaces. If I find a good solution I'll definitely make a video on the subject.

So I have a decent handle on basic layouts, how to but it's not quite what your were hoping. It's more like the tabbed workspaces from doom-emacs (without the tabs) where you can separate out various projects. I think that's still useful but I'm unsure if that falls under this particular issue.
