Empty files in cache directory (Using wordpress with Nginx) #348

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output is a resized image but instead an error is shown "The cached
image file seems to be corrupt." when an internal image is opened. The
index.html file gets its timestamp changed everytime an internal image is
accessed but cache file is not generated. If external images are accessed, then
a cache file is created but it is empty and has 0 size.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
2.8.4 (CentOS with Nginx)

Please advise if anyone has faced a similar issue.
