For WP sites using domain mapping in subdomain mode, simply open timthumb.php 
and change line 215

FROM:
$this->myHost = preg_replace('/^www\./i', '', $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']); 
TO:
$this->myHost = preg_replace('/^www\./i', '', 
'yoursubdomain.yourwordpressmultisite.com');
