GWT-Maven already works with GWT 1.5 and has for quite some time.  You have to 
setup
the pom, google.webtoolkit.home and or version, but it works. 

Also, we will be defaulting to 1.5 soon (we default to 1.4.61 for now - 1.5 
hasn't
been released yet).  

I have been working with 1.5 in branch, it will make it over to trunk soon:
