I addressed this in a branch I am working on by getting rid of the setup and 
extract
stuff (which was a great idea) and using the dependency plugin to extract.  
Removing
code, making our codebase simpler, and letting other plugins that already handle
this, handle it, seems smarter (and it includes the option to overwrite or not, 
where
to output, etc).
