GWT-Maven works with 1.5.2 just fine, and with 1.5.1, and with older versions, 
etc. 
We don't host 1.5.2 in our repo - but that is intentional.  

We are now using the central repo (which has 1.5.2) for a new branch that we are
almost ready to merge into trunk and release.

If you use the branch, you can use it as is and it works with 1.5.2.  If you 
use the
mainline releases, you will need to put 1.5.2 in your own repo, in the format
GWT-Maven uses (but it still works).
