Thanks for suggestion, let's see what Jaakko/Vesku thinks.
This should be relatively simple to implement. Only problem/issue/challenge that I can see is matching drag start to press delay threshold. Only feasible place this could be done is exactly on top of the toolbar so that we don't need to add extra round trips from browser ui to gecko and back.
Shouldn't those back and forth be other way round. Everywhere else in SailfishOS user goes back by flicking the screen to the right.
This is an interesting idea. We should prototype how this works in practice, since getting the gestures right is important.
Probably having the gestures other way around would be good as then the back is same gesture as elsewhere in the OS. The icon could still be this way around and transition effect on toolbar something similiar than the active covers of the app has.
Yes, please. I'm always trying go back with gesture first. I undestand that i can be tricky because custom gestures (touch events) should be supported inside web pages. The cover like idea sounds good.
How about we let the user decide? We could add an option for navigation.
The suggestion sound like a good idea to me.
However add an option "for user to decide" is not a good idea the more options the more stuff to test and also more code. If this is implemented, then it should be so good that there is a need for alternatives.
Options for everything is bad. Sometimes apps has a tendency to have one million settings and make end users frustrater/confused. I see this in many desktop linux apps or even windows. jolla-browser should be simple and easy to use. The less options the better.
I agree with mike7b4.
on my chromebook i can use 2 finger swipe to navigate back and forth in browsing history and 3 finger swipe to browsing trough opened tabs. what about this kind of gestures?
Any news on this ?
@Thaodan unfortunately not.
hm it feels like everything in sailfish is getting stuck.
New icons and by swiping to the left go go back and swiping to the right you go forth
