Snap to roads in Google Earth #280

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Which products are relevant to this feature request?
Google Maps, Google Earth

What should this feature enhancement do?
There is a "Snap to roads" feature in Google Maps that is really useful for
highlighting curvy roads. However, when exporting to Google Earth, these
lines get straightened out.

Are there any currently known workarounds that produce the same, or
similar, result?
I really just want to view a bunch of highlighted roads at the same time -
I can do it in My Maps but they get split among many different pages.

I would also really like this. I have my vacation planned in Google Maps and
when I export to Earth, it just draws
a straight line between points, losing all driving features.

Yes please, thank you Google Earth people, that would be a great improvement.
It's not really an alternative having to draw all the inbetweens to get a
correct
route. Without this option there's really no point in the Google-Maps-export
possibility. When or wherever can you go in a straight line from A to B?

I would really like this too - including a "flattening" of the data between
points
so that the exported klm has more information for sports GPS units.

This is strange. You can "get directions" from A to B and it will place path by
road, but you can not snap to roads while add custom path.
I can't udrstand why some features only in "earh" (e.g. elevation profile), and
other only in "maps" (e.g. snap to roads, more than two destinations while
getting directions etc.)
Very strange situation for me.
