Right now, Timbre colors are chosen based on intra-song variations. This means that if sounds within a song are very different, their corresponding colors are very different. However, if a sound in one song is similar to sound in another song, their colors don't necessarily have any relationship. This gives more variation within a song, but means different songs have no relationship, which is definitely OK.
But it might be fun to have an option that allows songs that sound similar to look similar, while songs that sound different will look different. An individual song might have less variation, but songs would then have characteristic looks ("this song is purple, this song is more green, etc.").
