Project Update #9 #10

This week I modified the current .xhtml files to a more coherent structure in preparation for adding more text into each of the pages. I'm hoping by this coming to Tuesday to have well coded xhtml and css files so we can add the xslt-modified files for our songs.

We switched up our research question a little bit so the markup we currently have makes sense how we decide to analyze the results. Instead of only analyzing how Hozier views religion, we decided to look at how Hozier uses literary devices to express his views of religion, and in turn, how those affects his relationships. I think this was a good move because it's definitely easier to think about and it makes thinking about how we're going to move forward with SVG a little less difficult.

I'm sure everyone else is currently feeling the same way, but my project partner and I are starting to feel the effects of the semester starting to come to an end, so I think it's going to be more important now than ever to try and buckle down and keep trying to understand XSLT and SVG. Obviously we need to use XSLT to convert our XML files to XHTML, but I'd like to incorporate graphs on our conclusion page, so completing the SVG homework will be an important element in creating one of the final parts of our project.

I definitely agree that expanding you research question was a good idea. In fact, I think it will make for more interesting data and conclusions! What types of graphs are you planning to create using SVG? I know we have done a lot of practice with bar graphs, so you could always use code you have previously written to speed up the process a bit. I agree that my group is also feeling the stress of the end of the semester. However, it sounds like you guys will have an awesome final product!

I definitely feel you on the stress part. Its nice though that these projects aren't due until a week after the last class; you definitely have time. I agree with Elizabeth that you should reuse some of your SVG HW code for bar graphs. I also like the change you made to your research question. Would you have graphs of the literary devices he uses? If so, bar graphs seem to make a fair amount of sense. It sounds like you guys are doing great though! I can't wait to see the final product.

I think that it was a very smart thing to slightly alter your research question. It definitely makes it so the SVG graphs will be clearer in their meanings. I understand the stress of the end of the semester, as I know my group is feeling the same way. I am interested to see how your final project comes together!
