the machine is Rpi 3B the rpi-gentoo download 2019/12/17 from here. Mobile broadband 4G is not availableusb-device.

Hi im a new gentoo user, just first day, gentoo 64 bit rpi, wich is really fine, recognize the usb mobile as 1bbb:f000, i did not find usb_modeswitch on gentoo. (And im too unskilled, to check if modem manager is installed, i dont know yet emerge, archlinuxarm armv7h has networkmanager and modemmanager and usb_modeswitch). So when i run archlinuxarm the usb mobile 1bbb:0195 is properly decteded, on gentoo the usb mobile is recognized as 1bbb:f000 this is lsusb output from archlinuxarm 32 bit: ID 1bbb:0195 T & A Mobile Phones I dont know if is possible to add usb_modeswitch to solve, but im ready to follow your suggest. I can connect gentoo Pi 3b to some wifi or ethernet connection, from another pi 3B or from a public wifi.

great work on audio: test with same (cheap) usb dac/headphone is impressive, gentoo sound is very good!

# emerge --ask usb_modeswitch (is masked so alea iacta est)

usb_modeswitch -v 0x1bbb -p 0xf000 -V 0x1bbb -P 0x0195 -K

and connection is back (for the moment :) )

30 Oct 2020: sadly, due legal obligations arising from a recent change in my 'real world' job, I must announce I am standing down as maintainer of this project with immediate effect. For the meantime, I will leave the repo up (for historical interest, and since the images may be of use still in certain applications); however, there will be no further updates to the underlying binhost etc., nor will I be accepting / actioning further pull requests or bug reports from this point. Email requests for support will also have to be politely declined, so, please treat this as an effective EOL notice.

For further details, please see my post here.

Many thanks for your interest in this project!

With sincere apologies, sakaki ><
