RTL with AutoApproach #405

Hi all,

Marco had a very interesting proposition about RTL.

Instead of AutoLanding, why not introduce AutoApproach with RTL.
AutoLanding is probably very hard to make it work perfectly on different setups
and different weather conditions.
AutoLand would make it possible to bring your multicopter back and make it
loiter at the home position on a certain altitude.
While loitering you could take over by going into stabilize mode again and
landing it yourself. If the RTL mode was triggered by failsafe, you could
maybe still grab it and disconnect the lipo.

Please do consider introducing this.

Many Thanks

Jo

Hi all,
I find this very good idea, much more than sécuritsé autoland or has too many parameters are taken into account.
hoping to have this feature in the next code
Regards Daniel

First revision for HIL testing is available in the auto-approach branch of my
clone: http://code.google.com/r/a432511-wip/source/checkout

Make sure you are looking at the right branch, because by default if you pull
my clone you will be looking at the "master" branch. You need to switch to the
"auto-approach" branch to see the new code.

Thanks,
Adam
