With the resolution of #4, we no longer have a problem with some featured imageless (Draft) posts. Historically we've omitted "Draft" posts from the homepage both because:
They were unpolished
Many are missing featured images
Some of those without featured images looked broken due to #4
I've made my peace with 1 and 2, therefore resolving #4 leaves me with no reason to exclude these posts from the homepage.
Along with change in what is displayed on the homepage, we'll want too remove the "Draft" entry in the menu.
