Editing Empty Doc Gives Gibberish

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Using example on the webpage:

dhcp235:~ jbg$ google docs edit --title "Shopping list" --editor=pico
No matching documents found! Creating it.

Gives me a screen full of the following:

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expected to see a blank document.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? What
version of gdata-python-client (aka python-gdata)?

Python 2.5.4 on OS X
gdata-2.0.11
