The Challenge of Optical Music Recognition
I know @MrBitSage is already familiar with machine vision, but I found a potential library to help us out, if we went the Python route.
Just based on scanning Scikit over, it seems straightforward and has a lot of the functionality we need (i.e. contour finding, pattern recognition, edge detection, etc.).
Additionally, Scikit has a machine learning repository free for downloading. It has specific examples of how to do some of the exact things we want. Since both libraries are run by the same organization, it might be a good idea to use them in conjunction for troubleshooting and compatibility purposes.
Post them here!
Here's a good one that uses the dataset I'm exploring
