Hey @bambrose thank you! I hope it works out - let me know here how it goes if you have a spare moment. I haven't had any independent corroboration yet :) Thank you for taking the time to post a comment.

Unfortunately I seem to have run into midi driver issues. I have two drivers I can try - the Mio 1 (which works flawlessly under Windows and Mac OSX.. but not in Wine).. and also the 'built-in' Midi driver for the PiSound sound card (aka 'hat') I have for my Raspberry Pi... In both instances the midi ports are recognised by the Nord Modular Program but I get "The driver was not enabled" errors in both cases (as well as with the 'Jack' socket... when I select them in the drop down list.

Your walkthrough is excellent though.. really well written and knowing nothing about Linux / Raspberry Pi I managed to get wine and the Nord Modular Editor to run ..

I'll pursue with Blokas (who make PiSound) and see if they can shed any light on the situation.

Trying to find out more online.. It looks as if the ALSA audio drivers are favoured over the Pulse Audio drivers which are installed by default.. as ALSA handles midi.. SO if I can install ALSA into Wine I may be able to get it working

Thank you for the report, I'm sure others will find it useful. I'm sorry you are having trouble with your MIDI interface! I guess I am lucky that mine worked first try, otherwise I might have given up! Maybe the Mio internally behaves differently depending on whether it is connected to a Mac or Windows host and it is getting confused by Wine, but that is just a wild theory.

If you discover a way to get it to work, I'd be happy to add it to the article or link to your solution.
