I use foobar2000 v2.1.5 (x86), and use MPV as an Album Art Viewer replacement that also displays any video contents, and I love it, however, my monitor stays awake at night whilst foobar is open, even while paused and with nothing else happening in the background, no activity.
I used CMD powercfg /requests to see what might be keeping my monitor up. Foobar appears, but doesn't clarify the source problem.
I looked up if MPV itself had these issues, and found that other users (albeit on Linux, or other distros of Linux?) have had issues in the past with screensaver/standby not working "until restart"? https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=294438 (its a different OS so idk if it holds significance here.)
I wanted to make sure it was coming from foo_mpv, so I changed my monitor standby time to 1 minute, and enabled the previously disabled screensaver, in case relevant, and I did these following tests, no particular order:
Allows screensaver/standby:
Have component installed but not in use (no MPV UI element nor MPV player window present)
while not using UI element, summoning the MPV player window & closing it
in layout editing mode, removing/replacing the UI element
Shut down foobar with the component installed
Start foobar with the component installed but not visibly in-use
Does not allow screensaver/standby:
starting up foobar, playback stopped, with the UI element present
using the UI element, playing
using the UI element, paused (i waited)
using the UI element, playback stopped
in layout editing mode, adding MPV to the UI
even if the UI element is displaying an image file, or a video
while not using UI element, summoning the MPV player window
There are options elsewhere in my foobar pertaining to preventing screensaver/standby, and both I could find are not currently enabled.
Whether adding an additional option to prevent standby for MPV, or relegating this function to foobar itself, I would really appreciate a fix for this. Thank you.
