The directory specifier API may not be the exact thing we want and should be reviewed to provide a few combinators so that simple scenarios like putting all the products of a part in a subdir can be quickly expressed.
Also get outstanding default behaviour, there's already a good start, but that's solely based on what I do now with my own packages and things are changing, e.g. tools like merlin may be interested in more.
