I'm not the author of the slideshow. So I can't control it, I just us it....

No I mean for the images I upload PRIOR to using them in the slideshow... being
able to crop them (a la
scissors... do you know that plugin?
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/scissors/) like you can with the
Wordpress default media upload. Your plugin allows us to resize, that's it.
So basically I was using the slideshow as an illustration for why not having
cropping tools for the larger images
(like you do for the thumbnails) is a problem. Will you reopen the issue?

So you need a crop feature for the original images ?

I also think this would be a very useful feature.

Custom cropping with Scissors (That is a very practical plugin!) is very
important
for Nextgen, in my opinion!
to decide how a thumbnail looks like is one of the most important things for a
gallery plugin.
As WP now offers an integrated crop functionality in it's media library, it is,
I
think, very important to integrate it in Nextgen too, otherwise users will feel
that
this is a drawback for nextgen.
Or, another idea would be to allow nextgen to use images that were uploaded and
custom cropped (for the thumbnail) in the media library (the native image
management
system of WP 2.9+). This would allow to merge the cropping function of Media
Library
of WP with the great administrative functions of NextGen.

@horia.marinescu: Editing a thumbnail is already possible, look for the picture
in the
NextGEN gallery and hover over it, you will see a few links appear "View | Meta
| Edit
thumb | Rotate | Delete". By clicking on "Edit thumb" you will be able to drag
a box
on the original picture and thereby making a selection of the image to display
as
thumbnail.
What I would like to see is the possibility to edit the original uploaded
picture with
something like Scissors.
