Hi,
can you pass the variable "obj" to the filter ngg_display_album_item_content? 
Actually, this filter receive only $obj['id'], but i thing it should be more 
useful to pass the entire $obj with a value to detect the type of object, i 
mean:  $obj['type'] = 'album'.... $obj['type'] = 'gallery'.
