Directory wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/ didn't exist. Please create first the main gallery folder ! #484

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.  Trying to add a new Gallery

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I wish to see a gallery created, but it gives me this error: Directory 
wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/ didn't exist. Please create first the main 
gallery folder !  I am using the latest wordpress theme.

What WordPress / NextGEN Gallery version are you using? What browser are
you using?  Wordpress 3.3.1 and NextGen
 1,9,3

Please provide any additional information below.
 I get this error while trying to create a gallery.  I can't do anything  until I create a gallery so I can upload an image and I can't get past this point: Directory wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/ didn't exist. Please create first the main gallery folder !.  The wp-content/blogs.dir/ is present and it is CHMOD 755 but it still will not write.  Either will it with it being CHMOD 666.
