Hi Sam. I continue my research into William (Bill) Byron for the Brewarrina Historical Society and was trying to find where the Halls, to which this postcard from Bill Byron was addressed. lived in WA. The postcard is addressed to E. & W. Hall but the description is “A photographic portrait and postcard of Bill Byron, sent to Ernest and Shakespeare Hall in 1917.” There was no physical address but it was given to H.M. Wilson by Gwyn (not Gwen) Hutchison. This caused me to wonder if the “E & W” was in fact Ernest Alderton Hall and his wife Esther Winifred? Their daughter Gwynneth Hall married Arthur Pennington Hutchinson and was probably the Gwyn Hutchinson written on the postcard. Gwyn Hall and H M Hall seem to have been second cousins? Any further info you can offer on the Hall recipients would be appreciated. Thanks, Kaye

@KayeSchofield It sounds like "E & W Hall" is as you say most likely Ernest and Winifred Hall; I've corrected the description (as well as the typo in Gwyn's name). Thanks! In 1917 they were I guess at Sherlock Station, as Ernest Hall didn't buy Wooramel until 1923. And you're right, Gwyn and H Margaret Hall were second cousins, but they were also related through Murray Wilson, HMW's second husband, who was Gwyn's first cousin.

Thanks Sam. Both the 1916 and 1917 electoral rolls have Ernest Anderton and Esther Winifred at Croydon Station, Roebourne, so Byron's letter was probably sent to them there. I'll leave you alone now as I think I have all I need, but thank you for sharing so much about William Byron.

No worries! I'll let you know if I find anything else that mentions him.
