What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Try installing the linux software on a Mac.
2. Observe that it doesn’t install correctly.

Task is 
(a) writing compiler-directives handling the specifics of Mac's.
(b) Update the install script, with its dependencies, to handle a Mac.
