I always use the Firefox browser in the sandbox and have not encountered this problem. There may be a conflict with ESET software.

Try adding the following lines to [DefaultBox].

WriteFilePath=%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\
WriteFilePath=%LocalAppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\

Hello.

Any sugestion. Thanks again.

I wrote these rules to hide the profile folder on the host from the sandboxed Firefox and to see if Firefox is working properly. So it's normal for Firefox to start from scratch when you run it in the sandbox.

  1. Close Firefox if it is running.
  2. Remove the rules I wrote from the sandbox.
  3. Back up Mozilla folders.
    %AppData%\Mozilla\
    %LocalAppData%\Mozilla\
  4. After backing up, follow the steps below.
    • Go to the %AppData% folder
    • Rename the Mozilla folder to Mozilla_1
    • Move Mozilla_1 folder to a different drive
    • Then copy Mozilla_1 folder back to the %AppData% folder
    • Rename the Mozilla_1 folder to Mozilla
  5. After backing up, follow the steps below.
    • Go to the %LocalAppData% folder
    • Rename the Mozilla folder to Mozilla_2
    • Move Mozilla_2 folder to a different drive
    • Then copy Mozilla_2 folder back to the %LocalAppData% folder
    • Rename the Mozilla_2 folder to Mozilla
  6. Open Firefox with Sandboxie.
  7. See if it hangs at startup.

Hi man.

Again tanks for your answer. I have no luck with your suggestion, BUT, I under if my dual boot w7 and w10 may have something to do with this problem, because if I change something, like time and data, connect to wifi, they seems w7 and w10 to be synchronized when I start one of them. Plus, firefox in w7 stop the upgrade in v15, and in w10 my problem is start for firefox 116 (until firefox 115 I don´t have problem with updates). Everything in windows 7 goes well. Either eset stop the updates in w7 and because that in w7 firefox and others programs have lower versions than in w10.

Any ideas. Thanks one more time.

mustwakeup commented 1 year ago

Edit.

I have randomly try other versions of sandboxie and version Sandboxie-Classic-x64-v5.55.22 works well with firefox but not edge. Version Sandboxie-Classic-x64-v5.64.2 works well with edge but not firefox.

Thanks.

On versions of Windows below 10 (including Windows 7) there won't be new major Firefox versions. Users on old platforms are (or have been) migrated to the extended release branch (ESR), which gets "only" security updates. English support document.

(German version of that document.)

Edit: This should take one to the localized page of the language the browser is set to prefer.
