svn external in mchelper makes anomymous checkout fail

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. svn co http://makecontroller.googlecode.com/svn/mchelper/trunk mchelper

->
Fetching external item into 'mchelper/source/qextserialport'
Authentication realm: <https://makecontroller.googlecode.com:443> Google Code 
Subversion 
Repository
-> asks for username and password -> checkout fails.

This appears to be related to an external added to mchelper/trunk/source/ a few 
days ago (r1336)
