Closed drdhaval2785 closed 7 years ago

drdhaval2785 commented 7 years ago

There are some catalogues from where the author gives references in ACC. Preface / foreword somewhere may give hint to the bibliography referred to in ACC. Otherwise manual examination will give us some idea regarding identification of the catalogue abbreviations.

See Oppert, Rice, Taylor etc.

There are 96 catalogues mentioned books in ACC.

96 catalogues mentioned books in ACC.

That's an interesting research.

Bühler.

Seems there are many "parts" of names and similar.

drdhaval2785 commented 7 years ago

Readme in response to Jim's request. Also put in the dev server repo.

Regex

re.findall(u'^<P>[0-9]+[.] {%([^\%]+)\%\}',line,re.U)

Usage

python list_catalogues.py ../../../orig/acc4.txt catalogue_names.txt

Output

catalogue_names.txt

This file has a total of 96 abbreviations of catalogues / works explicitly referred to in three volumes of ACC.

These abbreviations can be used to tag various literary resources.

Further pending work

Identify the works which are not explicitly mentioned in bibliography.

drdhaval2785 commented 7 years ago

Now I have started applying the list mentioned above to the acc4.txt to tag the catalogues properly. As this is a Literary Source kind of research (Same as PW or PWG), I have started a separate ACC repository for discussion. https://github.com/sanskrit-lexicon/ACC/issues/1 tracks the progress of this work.

gasyoun commented 7 years ago

I have started a separate ACC repository for discussion.

Yeah, just wanted to note that Cologne folder was not a wise idea if you wanted to dive that deep.

funderburkjim commented 7 years ago

Agree - good idea. We may want to use dictionary repositories for documenting, discussing such dictionary specific work.

Are you aiming towards an acc5.txt?

drdhaval2785 commented 7 years ago

Yes. orig/acc5.txt added now.

drdhaval2785 commented 7 years ago

Further discussion on ACC issue 1, if needed.

drdhaval2785 commented 7 years ago

For record, acc5_stats.py is the code and acc5_stats.txt is the result which shows the distribution of various literary resources in ACC. As of 7 June 2017

What is relation between the 'list of literary resources' shown in previous comment and the '96 catalogues' of first comment? Are the two lists identical (probably not) ? Almost identical (hopefully)?

Not identical. Almost identical, yes. I guess only difference is that Oudh appears thrice invthe 96 list. They carry not significant difference. So treated once in our list.
