User generated definitions / informations #394

Ref - https://github.com/sanskrit-lexicon/csl-orig/issues/829

A user submitted an “additional info” about an entry. We decline to add it to the existing dictionary. It is fine.

Question -

  1. Is it possible to create a layer in which the user can add his own data, without affecting the base data? We can keep a toggle button or configuration setting to activate user generated information or not. This way, we can keep the original information secure, and give users an option to add / modify / delete additional information section (more or less wikipedia style)
  2. Instead of pegging this user information to an individual dictionary, this user info page can be one per headword (across dictionaries).

What is the take of the team?

What is the take of the team?

I'm for it. Because there are letters, that contain history of PWG, for example, that could be implemented as a meta-layer one day.

@funderburkjim and @Andhrabharati what is your take? Worth doing / not doing?

Andhrabharati commented 1 year ago

I suggest not to add any such stuff at CDSL.

Creating a 'layer' for user notes is likely possible, but might require UI design skills that none of the pariticipants have.

I believe it's not about UI, but about cookies or some DB.
