PD IAST-Devanagari discrepancies

In #106 , an example was noticed where there is an error identified by a discrepancy in the Devanagari and IAST forms of a headword:

In this case, the error is that the IAST has a long 'i' in the first pada of the compound; in the AS coding 'akhi1la' is wrong and should be 'akhila'.

The suggestion is that the IAST and Devanagari for ALL headwords of PD should be compared, and differences put into a list for further, manual, examination.

I already have Python code that should do most of the work of

• (a) identifying the IAST in the digitization, and
• (b) converting the AS-encoded IAST to SLP1, to compare to
• (c) the Devanagari (key1), which is already coded in SLP1.

It's not the first time I see that IAST can differ from Devanagari in headwords, so it's interesting indeed and any Python output will be eagerly awaited.

The 'aKilapaRyajIvin' example shows up in the pd_deva_ne_iast.txt mentioned in #108.

This file needs to be examined and the discrepancies resolved by correcting whichever is wrong. The task is substantial, as there are 1427 cases. At the moment, I don't know a way to resolve these problems other than by manual examination of each case.

Whenever someone wants to work on this problem, I'll be glad to assist in developing a form that is convenient to work with.

An ant covers hundreds of miles when it keeps moving. Garuda, when stagnant, does not move even one foot.
