I am receiving the same error 1, -1 then error 1, -11 when attempting to stream
any local station or non-local that I have tried.
Error 1, -1 shows up first then on subsequent retries I get 1, -11. I'll
search on 1, -11 and see if anything comes up and add any notes here.
I am on Android 2.1 on the Samsung Vibrant from T-Mobile running
org.npr.android.nets Version 8.

I am using the Sprint Epic 4G (Android 2.1, Samsung Galaxy S) and this has been
happening to me when I stream local stations after about 15 minutes of
successful streaming. Hope that helps.

I've not been able to get my local station to stream at all (all 1,-1 errors).
Trying the other day I also saw a 1,-38 error as well, but can't remember which
station it was. I can sometimes get another relatively local station to stream
for a few seconds. I also tried WDET in Detroit the other day and was able to
stream for a while, but the audio would cut out about every 30 seconds.
I would just like to know whether the issues are a function of the android app
or if it's on the station's end.

Kevin, it is a combination. The way many station streaming services were set
up optimized them for the iPhone. This means more work for the app and
increases the likelyhood of a cog in the machine somewhere along the system.
There are many moving parts. There is the compounding issue of device
fragmentation and getting these workarounds to be effective on every phone, on
every carrier is one of our main challenges going forward.

NPR-
Thanks for the explanation.
I think it's strange though that some stations seem to be fine and others, not
so much. Wouldn't the stations all use pretty much the same protocol? Or is
that dependant on something like the iPhone optimization you mentioned?
Recently, I discovered that one of the two local stations I can pick up seems
to work more often than not if I switch on Wi-Fi mode, then start the stream.
When I don't switch it on, it doesn't want evven start the stream.
Could there also be any issue with one of the media players I have (presently,
the standard Android 1.6 "Music" app, and I've also had Meridian installed for
a couple of months)?

I also have this problem on my Droid X. Tried clearing cache, reinstalling,
etc. No solution no that end. I absolutely loved your app on my iPhone and look
forward to an update someday. Thanks for all your hard work, devs.

I think this is really the same issue as number 2, so I'm going to merge them.
