Low resolution email icon after updating from 0.9* to 1.07 #223

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
The sides of the email icon were trimmed and now it looks very low res. In
versions below 1.0 this was not a problem.

This was with nexus 7, expanded notifications, ver 1.07.

Many thanks

Later today i will. Basically the issue is that if you look at the email icon
in the notification bar there's a blue edge around it. In NILS this blue edge
disappeared and now i see only the mail icon zoomed in, in low res.

I guess you are using the "Large" notification style.
There is an open issue for making the app icon smaller in this style, this will
solve the blurred low res issue.

I'll accept this because I can't find the previous issue.

Okok,many thanks.

Actually id prefer to have an option whether or not to include that blue edge,
i like icons with that.

It looks more stock that way.

I'll try to make it as similar as possible to the standard android
notifications bar.
This means - when a monochrome icon is available - show it smaller with a blue
edge, when a color icon is available (like contact picture) - show it in full
size.

I just noticed that for apps like skype this issue still persists

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
That's impossible. Please send a screenshot.
The notification now uses the icon provided by the app without any scaling.

The low res icon issue is there with play store too..im just wondering this was
working before, like ver 0.92, why did icons change? Even facebook was fine back
then.

V0.92 displayed the original notification as without performing any
modifications. This caused too many issues with many devices, reboots, crashes
and there was no ability to customize its look. (Colors , size, etc
..) It has been completely removed in v1.0 and rebuilt from scratch using the
original notification content. It solves all of the issues. The current version
displays the icon of the app without scaling. If it seems scaled that's because
the app provided a scaled icon. It will look different than the original
notification icon because NiLS has no access for the exact notification icon
that appears on the notification - only the icon that the notification event
provided. Most of the apps provide the same icon in the notification event and
in the android status bar. Some apps don't. This why there will always be
different between the notification icon on NiLS and the notification icon on
android status bar

Get use to it. And stop comparing it with the android status bar notifications.

Thanks a lot!

I dont know im just very keen on stock things. I was really happy with 0.92,
the only issue was the rotation crash. I'll keep following the app for sure and
maybe update in the future.

I was thinking btw maybe there could be a separate app/option for nexus devices.

I made a screenshot but honestly have no idea how to upload here..anyways it's
fine, i'm not saying, i just prefer the original
